College Book Renter continues expansion
CBR, an online textbook rental company headquartered in Murray, Ky., began an 8,000 square foot building project recently that will expand the available office space for the customer service and order fulfillment divisions. The expansion doubles the current building to 16,000 square feet to house 200 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees during peak months.
"This expansion was planned before ground breaking of the initial building because we knew we were going to outgrow the first expansion before we started it," said Bud Byars, President of CBR and COO of C.A. Jones Management Group. "Because of the triple digit growth patter were are experiencing, it was obvious we were going to need space."
"By some of the virtues of automation in customer service and order fulfillment, we hope this expansion will be sufficient for a year or two, depending on growth," added Byars. "New partnerships with key vendors allow us to continue to grow and maximize our existing staff. The good news is that when the building is completed it's built so it can be expanded again."
The building expansion will house new Information Technology equipment that will include a new phone system which triples available phone lines. New data servers will accommodate new software programs that will allow CSRs to respond to customers in the manner they demand with today's technology advancements.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid to late June. Employees are expected to start moving in immediately before colleges and universities begin their fall semesters.
